Our Economics team is seeking an economist to contribute to the development of energy policy and support a transition to a net zero energy sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert economic advice and recommendations ensuring high-quality economic analysis and reasoning in policy development and project decision-making;
  • Apply analytical frameworks, build models, and conduct econometric analysis using advanced economic concepts and analyses to draw robust insights;
  • Contribute to thought leadership on current developments and emerging trends in the energy sector;
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer and promote a better understanding of how economic concepts relate to the operation of the energy market;
  • Communicate complex issues or concepts in a way that is accessible to a wide range of stakeholders, including policymakers, consumers, industry participants, and government.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in economics, commerce, and/or other relevant disciplines with a strong focus on microeconomics and/or econometrics;
  • A minimum of 2-5 years relevant work experience in a policy, research, and/or regulatory role involving the application of economic concepts and analysis to decision-making processes;
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain economic concepts to stakeholders and non-technical audiences;
  • The ability to work autonomously with a proactive approach and to have strong interpersonal skills necessary to build effective partnerships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders;
  • A flexible and innovative approach to problem-solving which takes into account diverse views and requirements;
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, including quantitative skills and the proven ability to understand complex subject matters quickly.
