Automated Manufacturing Expert

About the Role:

You will be responsible for carrying out regular maintenance on a wide range of automated equipment and systems used in the extrusion and packaging process.

This includes performing preventative and corrective maintenance, diagnosing and repairing faults in PLC and VSD systems, responding to breakdowns efficiently, and prioritising tasks to minimise downtime.

  • Perform routine checks and maintenance on automated material handling systems, wrapping, packaging, and labelling equipment, extrusion presses and downstream systems.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and variable speed drives (VSDs).
  • Respond to equipment failures promptly and effectively, minimising disruption to production.
  • Optimise machine performance and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with other tradespeople to ensure plant uptime and efficiency.
  • Communicate clearly with colleagues, management, and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using computerised maintenance management software (CMMS).
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety procedures.
The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for an individual with a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safe working practices.

Candidates should have a current electrical trade qualification, experience in automated manufacturing environments, and proficiency with Allen Bradley PLCs and VSDs.

  • Current QLD Electrical Trade Certificate/Licence.
  • Proven experience in automated or high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
  • Proficiency with Allen Bradley PLCs and VSDs.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Competency in using computers, including Microsoft Office and CMMS.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and procedures.
