Job Description

Heavy diesel fitters play a vital role in maintaining the efficiency and safety of surface mining operations.

The primary responsibility of this position is to diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy mining equipment, including CAT, Komatsu, and Hitachi machinery.

Key duties include:

  • Maintaining and repairing heavy mining equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Diagnosing mechanical and hydraulic faults and carrying out effective repairs.
  • Performing routine servicing and breakdown maintenance to prevent downtime.
  • Collaborating with site teams to achieve safe and efficient operations.
  • Assisting with the mobilisation and setup of large fleets of machinery.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A qualification in Heavy Diesel Fitting or Plant Mechanics.
  • Proven trade credentials and extensive experience working on major surface mining gear.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
