Mechanical Lead Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Lead Technician to join our maintenance team at our Botany facility. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our plant and maintaining the highest levels of equipment reliability and availability.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage a team of maintenance technicians to ensure planned work is completed on time and to a high standard.
- Maintain the functionality of the plant from a mechanical perspective, identifying and implementing improvements to increase operability, reliability, and availability of equipment.
- Communicate progress and timeframes of repairs to the maintenance leadership team and stakeholders.
- Raise work requests and close out work orders in SAP, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with engineering to identify and design equipment improvement modifications to reduce downtime and waste.
- Execute preventative maintenance activities as per schedule to improve plant reliability and efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to all standard work processes, including lean manufacturing principles and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Licensed fitter and turner with previous experience in a leadership or trades role.
- FMCG experience, particularly with high-speed packaging machinery, is highly regarded.
- Pneumatics and hydraulics post-trade qualifications are desirable.
- TIG welding of stainless steel is also desirable.
- Ability to work independently and direct support resources effectively.
- Agility and responsiveness to changing priorities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
