About the Role

The Structures Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and integrity of V/Line's civil assets, including bridges, culverts, platforms, and tunnels. This position requires a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with safety and rail standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections of civil assets to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with safety and rail standards.
  • Write detailed reports on inspections, including recommendations for maintenance priorities and consideration of environmental and heritage issues.
  • Advise management on civil asset conditions and ensure inspections follow the Technical Maintenance Plan (TMP).
  • Update the database with asset conditions and align updates with V/Line's risk management system.
  • Respond to emergencies after hours and identify urgent actions to maintain structural integrity.
Requirements
  • Must hold a Certificate 3 in Rail Infrastructure.
  • A current Victorian Driver's License.
  • Bridge Inspector Level 1 or 2 certification.
  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a trade certificate is highly regarded.
  • Must be able to travel and work away from home regularly, with overtime, different shifts, and call-outs when required.
