Role Overview


Social Worker - Mental Health SpecialistThe Social Worker role plays a vital part in delivering safe, effective and patient-centred care. This critical position is key to facilitating timely and safe discharges by addressing complex social needs. It promotes patient flow, reduces delayed discharges and prevents avoidable readmissions.
In this challenging yet rewarding role, the Social Worker ensures patients have the right support in place to maintain their recovery in the community, reducing the risk of relapse. The successful candidate will deliver quality care to consumers of mental health services based on best practice principles and within a collaborative framework.
Key Responsibilities:- Undertake specialist assessments and treatment services for consumers of mental health services and their families or carers.- Promote community awareness regarding mental health and act as a consultant to other agencies with regard to the support and management of consumers with mental health needs.
Requirements:- A tertiary qualification approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)- Eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)- Registration/licences essential to this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role.
Desirable criteria include: Current Driver's Licence
