As a Healthcare Professional, your primary responsibility will be to conduct medical assessments for candidates seeking to join the Australian Defence Force.

The role of Medical Officer is crucial in ensuring the medical readiness of these individuals for service. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to review and interpret medical histories, test results, and previous reports to determine candidate medical suitability.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting thorough medical assessments for ADF candidates
  • Reviewing and interpreting medical histories, test results, and previous reports
  • Providing clinical determinations on medical suitability, including MRC, MEC, and required restrictions
  • Managing and actioning Class 3R/3M/3T candidate reports and following up on clinical test results
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including Medical Screeners, DFR Nurse Officers, Psychology Officers, and Defence personnel
  • Maintaining accurate and secure candidate medical records

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A minimum of 5 years' post-graduate medical experience in a health system comparable to Australia
  • Unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner with the relevant state or territory health authority
  • A medical degree (MBBS or equivalent)
  • Fellowship or working towards Fellowship with AFOEM, RACGP, or similar, or at least 2 years' experience in occupational health or independent medical assessments
  • Current CPR certification (HLTAD009)
  • Medical indemnity/malpractice insurance with $20 million coverage
