We are seeking a skilled Trade Development Specialist to work at our Facilities Maintenance Business Unit on the South Coast.

The successful candidate will supervise and develop inmates through managing, coaching, instructing, and encouraging them, as members of a team, in order to improve their work skills, enhance their post-release employment prospects, and contribute productively to Service/Business Unit objectives.

The Trade Development Specialist will oversee the activities of the team to ensure productivity efficiency and other commercial objectives are achieved while ensuring all Workplace Health & Safety, Quality Management requirements, and customer service needs are met.

Trade Development Specialists play a vital role in training and supervising inmates and staff in their work-related activities within a correctional centre.

Successful candidates will be provided with paid training to undertake Certificate III in Correctional Practice at an allocated Brush Farm Corrective Services Academy training facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Relevant trade or tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate III level in Building/Construction, Metal of a qualified Construction based Trade)
  • Current Certificate III in Correctional Practice or capacity to complete Certificate III in Correctional Practice in accordance with specified CSNSW timeframes
  • Current NSW Driver Licence and preparedness to drive a vehicle in the course of performing the role
  • Willingness to participate in an after-hour rostering system for 24/7 site support

About You

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Skills to supervise, coach, train, motivate, instruct, and work with inmates to develop their work skills in order to enhance their post-release employment opportunities, thereby reducing their risk of re-offending.
  • A positive attitude and ability to demonstrate personal values such as honesty, ethics, and integrity that support CSI and social values.
  • Ability to positively contribute to business unit operations through the delivery of work-related inmate training, including the implementation of Inmate Traineeships.
  • Detailed input to case management reporting through the Work Readiness Program.
  • Effective resource management skills to achieve planned outcomes.
  • Capacity to create and maintain a safe working environment for staff, contractors, inmates, and visitors to comply with Work Health & Safety legislation.

Assignment to this role is subject to Criminal Records Check, Medical, and Capability Assessments.
