Medical Service Provider Role

This position will support a department of defense program in Alice Springs, Australia.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provides medical services comparable to those provided by the USG Facility Medical Officer (FMO) during clinic hours of operation and after-hours coverage as necessary.
  • Obtains health history and performs physical examinations.
  • Diagnoses and directs counseling for each patient on a plan for treatment.
  • Prescribes medication in accordance with state statute and professional practice guidelines.
  • Maintains a problem-oriented health record for each patient seen in accordance with established Health Information Management policies and procedures.
  • Ensures continuity of care by providing comprehensive medical services on a timely basis.
  • Provides excellent internal/external customer service to assist patients with their healthcare needs.
  • Arranges referrals for patients requiring services not offered onsite.
  • Reviews incoming reports (e.g., lab, x-ray, EKG), signs, dates, and follows up in a timely manner.
  • Assists in updating protocols and principles of practice as requested.
  • Assists in outside medical public relations functions.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and adapting to the latest medical advancements.
  • Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission certification or other regulatory bodies.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Expertise in clinical practice and a collaborative spirit to a team that values patient-centered care.
  • Strong communication skills and empathetic demeanor.
  • Minimum of five years of experience as a general practice physician.
  • Licence to practice with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPR).
  • US, UK, or Australian citizenship.
  • Able to relocate to Alice Springs, Australia for the duration of the contract.
