**Healthcare Security Officer Role Overview

As a respected member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining a safe and secure environment within healthcare facilities across Western Australia. Your duties will include patrolling assigned areas to deter and detect potential security risks, conducting thorough security screenings of individuals and their belongings, collaborating with healthcare staff to ensure a secure environment, surveillance of patients admitted to hospital for mental health concerns, and responding to incidents and emergencies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patrol designated areas to prevent and respond to security incidents, ensuring the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Conduct comprehensive security screenings of individuals and their belongings, adhering to relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with healthcare staff to maintain a secure environment, fostering a culture of openness and transparency.
  • Surveillance of patients with sensitive mental health issues, providing support and care as needed.
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents, utilizing first aid and control and restraint techniques as necessary.

To be successful in this role, you will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups and de-escalate tense situations. You will also require a strong understanding of healthcare regulations and patient confidentiality.

Selection Criteria:
  • Certificate II in Security Operations and at least two years' experience in a relevant field, demonstrating expertise and knowledge in security practices.
  • Demonstrated verbal and non-verbal communication skills, including active listening, conflict resolution, empathy, and de-escalation techniques, essential for effective collaboration and teamwork.
  • Effective written communication skills, including report writing, to ensure accurate and timely documentation of incidents and security activities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision, exhibiting flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience dealing with people from culturally diverse backgrounds, mental health issues, and disabilities, promoting inclusivity and respect.

The ideal candidate will hold current certifications, such as a WA Security Officer licence, First Aid qualification, and Working With Children's card, demonstrating commitment to professional development and industry standards.
