The Australian Red Cross Lifeblood Launceston Donor Centre is currently seeking an experienced and caring Donor Services Nursing Assistant to join our team. In this key role, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional donor experiences while working collaboratively to achieve collection targets.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include greeting and interviewing potential donors to assess their eligibility for blood donation, conducting routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests, setting up equipment, inserting and removing needles safely, and monitoring donors post-donation. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with donors to understand their needs and provide support throughout the donation process.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Greet and interview potential donors to understand their eligibility and suitability to donate
  2. Complete routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests
  3. Set up machines, various tubing, and collection bags
  4. Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets
  5. Monitor donors post-donation and assist them to rebook for their next donation
Requirements:
  1. Occasionally lift between 9-22.7kgs
  2. Frequently stand, walk, and bend to set up and pack down machines and blood products
  3. Be flexible to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Saturday, including weekends and afternoon shifts
