ClearCompany is seeking an experienced clinical psychologist or registered psychologist with a strong background in mental health to fill the position of Senior Mental Health Adviser. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the effective use of clinical evidence to support veterans and their families in accessing healthcare services within their entitlements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Team Management
    • Lead a team of Mental Health Advisers, fostering a positive team culture and monitoring individual workloads and availability.
    • Conduct performance reviews and establish team processes to ensure efficient operations.
  • Clinical Governance and Quality Improvement
    • Oversee team compliance with DVA and Health Branch policy and procedures.
    • Drive quality improvement initiatives, including education, training, and mentoring.
    • Coordinate ongoing education and dissemination of business updates.
  • Advice and Escalation
    • Provide high-level strategic advice on mental health research and policy.
    • Be the advice and escalation point for complex, urgent, or sensitive requests for funding of health services.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work collaboratively with the CHO Division, health business areas, and other DVA business areas to improve the quality and timeliness of clinical advice.
    • Liaise with external providers to resolve complex or systemic issues.
  • Policy and Program Development
    • Provide advice to Policy and Program Delivery Division (PDD) branches regarding programmatic health policy issues and complex case policy interpretation.
    • Oversee evidence gathering for emerging treatments.
  • Support to Senior Leadership
    • Provide assistance to the Deputy Chief Health Officer (DCHO) and the Chief Health Officer (CHO) as required.
Requirements
  • At least five years' experience as a practicing psychologist.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a small team.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to drive clinical governance, quality improvement, and change management.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
