Terminal Operator Job Description

This role is responsible for overseeing all terminal operations, including shipping, product transfers, tank gauging, stock control, and truck loading. The Terminal Operator will be crucial in ensuring efficient workflows, operating control systems, and maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.

The key responsibilities of this role include safely and efficiently loading fuel into tanker trucks, helping unload fuel from ships as they come into the terminal, monitoring and operating terminal equipment, performing routine checks and maintenance on terminal facilities and gear, and following all safety and environmental rules.

Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential for this role, as is attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements
  • A trade qualification in a Mechanical/Technical field is highly desirable
  • Training and experience in truck and ship loading, as well as wharf duties is a bonus but not required
  • Experience in chemical handling facility operations is desirable
  • Understanding of handling Dangerous Goods and Hazardous chemicals is essential
  • Computer literacy is required
  • The ideal candidate will be physically fit and ready for a hands-on job
  • A valid forklift license or willingness to obtain is necessary
  • Confined space training certification or willingness to obtain is also required
  • The candidate must be willing to complete a police check and drug and alcohol test
