Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Professional to join our team in the Asia Pacific region. As a key member of our tax team, you will play a critical role in advising our business on international tax issues related to large-scale engineering and construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • International Tax Planning and Compliance
    • Engage with projects and research international tax compliance and planning implications to support tax guidance to business for foreign operations.
    • Research tax implications of proposed transactions and restructurings that involve non-US entities and prepare guidance to senior tax management.
  • Tax Forecasting and Accounting
    • Prepare and review work papers associated with tax forecasts, accruals, and provisions for operations in the Asia Pacific region.
    • Review quarterly and year-end close tax accounting entries and reporting for the region.
  • Transfer Pricing and Tax Assessments
    • Prepare and review transfer pricing documentation for the region in accordance with local country requirements and related workpapers.
    • Review tax assessments, assist as necessary with tax queries or audits by tax authorities in the Asia Pacific region, and assist with tax objections or appeals in relation to tax assessments.
  • Team Collaboration and Knowledge Development
    • Build relationships internally with Bechtel business colleagues and support the work of external advisors.
    • Expand knowledge of tax laws, regulations, court decisions, proposed changes, and other current tax issues, especially as they relate to international operations.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Requires a B.Acc, Masters in Taxation or B.Bus degree with accounting major/emphasis (or international equivalent).
    • Requires CPA, ICAANZ or Tax Institute membership (or international equivalent).
    • Requires majority of experience to be specialized in tax preparation and planning/structuring relating to large multinational corporations at a recognized Big 4 accounting firm or large law firm (large corporation experience or tax authority equivalent experience will also be considered).
  • Skills and Knowledge
    • A minimum of 5 years advising large international corporations on tax planning and structuring, either in a Big 4 accounting firm, large law firm, or in-house in a large multinational corporation.
    • A strong understanding of and practical experience in tax accruals and tax effect accounting concepts.
    • A strong understanding of the relationship between double tax agreements and tax risks as well as appropriate strategies to manage these risks.
    • An understanding of transfer pricing principles and associated requirements.
    • An understanding of the OECD's BEPS initiatives, including hybrid mismatch rules and Pillar Two.
