Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a vision of creating pathways to better health for our North West communities. The Karumba Health Centre provides essential healthcare services to a remote community in the Gulf of Carpentaria.

The Karumba township is located remotely in the Gulf of Carpentaria, with Mount Isa situated inland 530kms South West and the coastal city Cairns 750kms East. The population increases from March to September during the dry season.

Karumba is known as the 'Outback by the Sea' and offers a laid-back lifestyle.

The role performs a range of duties to assist the day-to-day administration of the Karumba Health Centre.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing filing systems, files and appointments for clinical staff.
  • Organising Patient Travel in consultation with the North West Hospital and Health Service Travel Department.
  • Communicating relevant information across the continuum according to organisational procedure and local work area requirements.
Requirements

Required skills and qualifications:

  • C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
  • Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
  • A period of probation may apply.
