This is a challenging and rewarding role that involves overseeing the planning, design, and execution of a major campus development project in Cairns. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full project lifecycle, from initial planning and stakeholder engagement to construction and completion.

The Project Manager will lead a diverse team of consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role, as well as the ability to negotiate effectively with stakeholders and manage complex risks.

About the Position
  • This position offers autonomy within a supportive and outcomes-focused team that values integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • You will oversee stakeholder engagement, procurement, contract administration, and risk management, while coordinating consultants, contractors, and internal teams to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience leading major infrastructure projects (>$50M) through all phases—from design and tendering to construction, commissioning, and completion.
Requirements
  • A degree in a relevant field such as construction management, urban planning, engineering, architecture, or quantity surveying.
  • At least 5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in a university or government sector.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale projects, including budgets, timelines, and resources.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
