About Patient Transport Officers

The Role
  • Provide clinical oversight and support during non-emergency patient transport, ensuring seamless transitions between medical facilities.
  • Drive ambulances safely, prioritizing vehicle and patient safety above all else.
  • Assist patients during entry and exit, and provide ongoing support throughout their journey.
  • Collaborate with hospital staff and other health professionals to ensure smooth patient handovers, fostering effective communication and teamwork.
  • Respond calmly and efficiently in dynamic and time-sensitive situations, thinking critically to resolve complex problems.

In this permanent position, no two days will be the same. Whether you are responding to scheduled hospital transfers or supporting emergency departments, you will make a significant contribution to patient outcomes in your local area.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Minimum 1+ years post-graduate experience as a Registered or Enrolled Nurse, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Experience in Patient Transport or Emergency Department settings is highly regarded, showcasing your adaptability and ability to work in fast-paced environments.
  • Current and unrestricted AHPRA registration, demonstrating your commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.
  • A Class C Unrestricted Driver's License with a safe driving record, highlighting your responsibility and reliability on the road.
  • Ability to drive an ambulance and provide hands-on support to patients, showcasing your compassion and empathy.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and time management skills, enabling you to prioritize tasks and respond to emergencies effectively.
  • A calm and compassionate approach under pressure, demonstrating your ability to remain composed in challenging situations.
  • National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain), indicating your integrity and commitment to upholding the law.
  • Full Australian working rights, ensuring your eligibility to contribute to the country's healthcare system.
