Information Governance Specialist

Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Information Governance Specialist to lead the development and implementation of robust information management practices.

  • Develop, maintain, and implement information governance frameworks, policies, and compliance monitoring systems.
  • Lead data classification, retention, and disposal efforts, ensuring alignment with federal government standards and regulations.
  • Oversee the migration of records and data to SharePoint Online, ensuring metadata integrity, usability, and compliance.
  • Provide expert advice on information architecture, metadata standards, and lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate with IT, legal, and business units to embed records and information management in enterprise systems and workflows.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of National Archives of Australia (NAA) standards and Digital Continuity 2020+.
  • Proven experience in data and records migration to SharePoint Online, including planning, metadata mapping, and user adoption strategies.
  • Strong understanding of data classification, retention, and disposal practices in a federal government context.
  • Experience in developing and implementing information governance frameworks, policies, and compliance monitoring.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence and educate staff at all levels.
  • Relevant qualifications in Records Management, Information Management, or a related discipline.
