Job Description

The Cardiac ECHO Sonographer is responsible for providing safe, effective and patient-centred care within a collaborative healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Recording and archiving study images to the image archive system.
  • Maintaining routine equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Administering duties such as computerized data entry of patient demographics and recording anomalies in patient notes.
  • Participating in clinical trials.
  • Triaging request forms and test requirements.
  • Interfacing with wards and units in stressful situations.

Requirements for success in this role include:

  • Diploma of Medical Ultrasound (Cardiac) or equivalent and current ASAR accreditation as a fully qualified sonographer.
  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent as per the award.
  • Able to perform echocardiographic studies and report findings as an interim report.
  • Effectively communicate emergency findings to the Director of Cardiology or Cardiologist on call.
  • Accurate transcription of data.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills with ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Commitment to personal and professional development.
