**Electoral Event Management Role**

The Australian Electoral Commission maintains an impartial and independent electoral system for eligible voters through active electoral roll management, efficient delivery of polling services, and targeted education and public awareness programs.

**Key Responsibilities**

The Project Officer is responsible for planning and delivering complex industrial elections, including coordination with stakeholders and effective use of resources. This role also involves contributing to the successful delivery of other less complex electoral events, such as ballots.

Most events are conducted via a secret postal ballot, but some require attendance at special meetings of registered organizations. The Project Officer may travel to various parts of the country to conduct these elections.

This is an agile position that requires collaboration with team members to ensure electoral events are successfully delivered. The Project Officer will undertake project-based activities contributing to longer-term initiatives and supporting the forward year work plan.

To excel in this role, you'll need:

  • Ability to successfully plan, coordinate, and deliver complex events within set timeframes, prioritizing tasks and efficiently utilizing resources.
  • Strong communication skills, including audience-specific written and verbal communications to cater to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy of information.
  • Competency in using internal systems to plan, program, deliver, and keep official records related to electoral events.
  • Attention to detail in drafting and checking sensitive documents related to industrial elections.
  • Knowledge of Australian electoral law and practice.

**Eligibility Criteria**

  • Australian citizenship is required.
  • Candidates who engage in political activities may compromise the AEC's neutrality and cannot be considered.
  • Applicants must consent to undergo character clearance and security clearance procedures.
