About the Role

As a Senior Maritime Warfare Instructor at Serco, you will play a critical role in delivering high-level training in navigation and tactical operations to the Royal Australian Navy's junior Maritime Warfare Officers. This involves teaching using a combination of classroom education, simulation, and occasional sea training periods to ensure junior Officers are prepared to contribute to operations effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist navigation and warfare training
  • Conduct extensive training using simulation
  • Support courses through programming, briefings, and examination activities
  • Contribute to the course review and development processes
  • Maintain expertise in navigation and warfare tactics and systems
  • Provide training outside regular hours on a shift roster

About You

You are a motivated, resilient, and focussed professional with a strong background in navigation and warfare tactics. You are committed to delivering exceptional training to the next generation of Navy Officers and are passionate about becoming an integral part of Serco Defence, the leading provider of maritime services in Australia and the Asia Pacific region.

Requirements

  • Able to achieve and maintain a defence security clearance of NV1 or higher
  • Minimum of 18 months experience as the Navigating Officer or Principal Warfare Officer on a RAN Frigate or Destroyer, within the last 5 years, or Commonwealth equivalent
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, including the ability to show initiative and work effectively under pressure
