About the Role

The Lead Design Engineer will be responsible for spearheading the development and refinement of innovative engineering solutions across a range of projects. This will involve overseeing the design process from concept through to completion, ensuring that all products meet high standards of quality, functionality, and reliability.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in engineering, with a proven track record of leading design teams and delivering high-quality results. They will be a clear communicator, have a proactive outlook, and be results and timeline driven.

Key Responsibilities
  • Presenting creative and practical engineering design concepts
  • Leading and managing the engineering & drafting team
  • Coordinating design projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals
  • Directing, reviewing, and approving product design and changes
  • Being a trusted technical advisor and subject matter expert
  • Coordinating the preparation of project budgets, schedules, and resources
  • Preparing cost analysis on the development of new products (AFE) for opex or capex assets
  • Managing schedules for engineering, design, drafting & fabrication works
  • Coordinating with manufacturing to create prototypes and field test equipment
  • Creating detailed engineering plans, processes, procedures, and standards
  • Quality assurance checks and product certification
  • Leading weekly engineering meetings to ensure critical next steps, owners, and dates are clearly communicated for on-time project delivery
  • Coaching and developing the engineering team members
  • Developing relationships and fostering collaboration with functions including Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Business Development, and Operations to drive project delivery
  • Promoting a safe work environment and supporting compliance to regulatory requirements as applicable
Requirements
  • Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics
  • RPEQ Certification
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in design & Engineering
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Project Management skills
  • Product quality & certification management experience
