Electrical Design and Drafting Opportunities

We are seeking experienced Electrical Designers to join our team in support of the Collins Class Submarine Life of Type Extension Program. The roles will see the successful applicants applying their electrical knowledge to perform electrical design and drafting activities to support the integration of new and revised designs into the submarine, covering many different systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver electrical design and drafting tasks to agreed program commitments.
  • Undertake design activities in accordance with established industry standards ensuring engineering outputs comply.
  • Produce high quality electrical outputs such as cable block diagrams schematics termination diagrams cable installation schedules panel layouts arrangements and parts equipment lists.
  • Assist with selection of electrical components suitable for design installation and manufacture.
  • Guidance and mentoring of colleagues sharing your technical knowledge to support the growth and capability of our team.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and departments across the organisation to assist with delivery of engineering products and services.
  • Provide regular task updates escalating blockages and ensuring alignment with project priorities and objectives.
Requirements:
  • All levels of experience considered entry level to senior.
  • A tertiary qualification e.g. Certificate Diploma Advanced Diploma in a related Engineering discipline is highly regarded.
  • Trade experience qualification is advantageous.
  • A degree in a related Engineering field is desirable encouraged to apply.
  • Experience in design and integration of complex electrical systems including preparation of production level drawings and documentation.
  • Proficiency in the use with AutoCAD to produce 2D drawings is favourable training provided.
  • Exposure to control panel switchboard design an additional benefit.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Adaptability to manage multiple design activities concurrently while still delivering work on time and within budget.
  • Proven experience leading a team of designers and engineers to manage complex engineering project deliverables required for Senior Level.
  • Knowledge of configuration systems and the role of configuration management in the design process.
