As a Legal Officer, you will report to the General Counsel and provide independent, timely, and accurate legal advice, guidance, and support to staff involved in assessments, investigations, evaluations, reviews, and prevention activities.
You will be responsible for preparing and assisting in the preparation of reports, including investigation reports and general reports, contributing to the development of policies and procedures, contributing to the management and administration of inquiry processes. Additionally, you will instruct counsel in respect of examinations conducted pursuant to the ICAC Act.
Ideally, you will need to have a degree in law or be eligible for admission as a legal practitioner in the Northern Territory, have the ability to provide legal advice in relation to criminal law, public law, and administrative law, and produce high-quality written legal advice that is clear and easily understood.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide legal advice on matters associated with investigations
- Assist in the development of policies and procedures
- Contribute to the management and administration of inquiry processes
- Instruct counsel in respect of examinations conducted pursuant to the ICAC Act
- Degree in law or eligibility for admission as a legal practitioner in the Northern Territory
- Ability to provide legal advice in relation to criminal law, public law, and administrative law
- High-quality communication and organisational skills
