Product Engineering Opportunity

This role sits within the Digital Division in a Government Technology Platforms team. We are inviting applications for the Product Engineer position to enable accessible and secure digital platforms and services.

About the Team

We are a dynamic team responsible for designing and developing high-quality ICT / Digital systems and/or networks to support strategic objectives.

  • We attend agile ceremonies such as stand-ups, sprint planning, and sprint review to provide an overview of work being delivered by a multi-disciplinary Product Team.
  • We participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality code is delivered across the engineer chapter, producing reusable and scalable code.
  • We deliver and execute on delivery of code that supports the delivery of All of Government products and services.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

Key Skills and Qualifications

End-to-End Product Development

  • You have experience in delivering high-quality features through build, release, maintenance, and enhancement of thoroughly tested and optimised features.
  • You collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver valuable software aligned with the organisation's ICT/Digital strategy.

Design and Iterative Testing

  • You design and iterate test products/systems to ensure compliance with standards, enhancing code quality and reducing operational risk.
  • You experience in enhancing developer practices to drive high performance in ICT/Digital product and system development.

System Requirements Optimisation

  • You optimise system requirements for enhanced efficiency, security, and customer-oriented ICT/Digital capabilities.
  • You have experience (2+ years) with SQL queries, SQL programming (database procedures/functions), and database development.

Systems Integration and API Experience

  • You have experience with systems integration, APIs (Web services, RESTful, SOAP, HTTP).
  • You have experience with version control systems including managing repositories, branching strategies, and conducting code reviews.

Communication and Stakeholder Engagement

  • You proactively engage with stakeholders to refine business requirements and acceptance criteria, driving alignment with project goals.
  • You communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and relatable manner.
