About the Role

Melbourne Water is seeking a Senior Asset Manager to join our team in a pivotal role within the Service Enablement Catchments and Waterways department. As a Senior Asset Manager, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and technical direction in developing and applying management regimes that assess and understand risk, protect and improve the condition and function of developer constructed storm water quality treatment systems and constructed waterway assets, and retarding basins.

Key Responsibilities
  • Developing, applying, and communicating relevant approaches for prioritizing the maintenance program for developer constructed assets.
  • Providing expert advice and technical direction in developing and applying management regimes that assess and understand risk, protect and improve the condition and function of developer constructed storm water quality treatment systems and constructed waterway assets, and retarding basins.
Requirements

We are seeking experienced Asset Managers who can work at the senior level. Fundamentally, they will be comfortable paving the way forward and developing the standardization of processes and procedures. For this reason, our successful candidates have substantial experience in asset-rich workplaces, and have strong capability in data gathering and analysis, assessing risks, asset registration, and maintenance in civil, waterway, dam, and headworks. Their background is from any discipline that lends itself to asset management and technical knowledge of assets.

They will bring with them a knowledge bank of skills and capabilities to evolve the asset management approach at Melbourne Water; have a continuous improvement mindset and have introduced practical innovations to their work.

About You

Our successful candidates will have:

  • Experience in relevant aspects of Retarding Basin and dam safety management processes and engineering principles, or
  • Experience in all relevant environmental aspects of stormwater quality treatment systems.
  • Experience in developing effective networks in a diverse and complex multiagency delivery environment.
  • Experience working with asset management processes and procedures.
  • Experience working in dams asset management and familiarity with the ANCOLD guidelines as applied to retarding basins a bonus, or
  • Experience working in geomorphology or waterway engineering a bonus
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills which add value to business and customers.
  • Proven communication and negotiation skills.
  • Extensive coordination, prioritization, and time management skills to deliver on long-term objectives while managing day-to-day challenges within tight timeframes and work unsupervised.
  • Proven judgment working in a complex and multi-agency environment.
