As a Site Engineer - Earthworks and Infrastructure Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating technical activities on assigned projects, including planning, scheduling, and conducting engineering work. You will ensure effective communication and coordination between all disciplines, project participants, and clients.
The role focuses on the construction of earth-fill tailings dams and liner systems. Significant experience in earthworks supervision and QA/QC management is essential.
The role will be based in our Australia office but involves working on overseas projects, primarily in West Africa and South-East Asia.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain quality control of earthworks and surrounding infrastructure while on site.
- Participate in assigned teams to provide technical skills and support to projects.
- Audit and record observations, analysis results, assumptions, and conclusions into written reports.
- Review Contractors' proposed methodologies, plans, ITPs to ensure suitability to achieve technical requirements.
- Review Contractor fleet to ensure it meets the detailed schedule and can complete works efficiently.
- Ensure Contractors work efficiently to avoid time or cost overruns.
- Verify Contractors meet site safety and environmental standards at all times.
- Verify Contractors meet specification and quality control requirements.
- Work with Contractor personnel to optimize performance from a schedule and cost perspective.
- Monitor Contractors' progress and highlight areas where progress is behind schedule.
- Prepare Daily and Weekly Site Reports covering all aspects of safety, environment, quality, and schedule.
- Prepare a final Construction Report on completion of each project.
An Ideal Candidate
- Strong knowledge of civil, geotechnical, water resources, environmental engineering, and/or earthwork construction principles.
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in civil engineering, geotechnical, or water resources.
- 10 years of experience in geotechnical structures design and construction projects, particularly in mining infrastructure.
- Candidates must be able to read, analyze, and interpret engineering reports, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. They must also be able to write technical reports and business correspondence.
