Job Description

The Midwifery Patient Safety Co-Lead is a critical role within the Women's Health Clinical Network at Westmead Hospital. This position involves leading and championing clinical governance principles, building capacity and empowering clinicians and managers to improve systems and outcomes.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in strengthening the safety and quality culture across maternity services in WSLHD. Key responsibilities include shaping policy and procedure development, ensuring alignment with evidence-based best practice and NSW Health standards.

This role requires a high level of interpersonal, communication, negotiation, influencing and motivational skills to support personal capacity to build and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with a range of multidisciplinary stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Registration as a Registered Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Extensive clinical and management experience in the maternity environment or postgraduate qualifications at masters level in specialisation or equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrated experience in quality, safety and clinical risk management within a complex/acute maternity environment
  • High level verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to analyse and synthesise data and use it to drive improvement
