Job Overview

The Museum is seeking a senior professional to lead its Collection Management program and teams. This role will oversee the care and development of significant cultural collections, ensuring alignment with the institution's priorities.

This position requires a highly skilled professional with experience in managing complex and diverse collections. The ideal candidate will utilise their expertise in collection management practices to deliver high standards of collection care and access.

A key aspect of this role will be leading the inter-disciplinary Collection team, guiding digitisation initiatives, and reviewing collection storage and deaccessioning processes.

Requirements for this position include strong leadership, interpersonal and organisational skills, as well as relevant tertiary qualifications and demonstrated experience in museum-related environments.

  • Key Qualifications:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and demonstrated experience in museum-related environments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with documentation of museum collections and use of collection management systems.
  • Highly developed communication and networking skills at the institutional, government and community levels.
  • Ability to interact effectively with people from different cultures and a sound understanding of Work Health Safety (WHS) practises.
