Fitters and Machinists play a crucial role in the rail component overhaul process. They are skilled professionals responsible for various machining duties, quality control, and safety as well as teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Machining Duties: Machining bogie axles on CNC Lathes to requalify them to desired specifications. This includes operating CNC vertical horizontal boring machines, pressing functions, other general machinist duties as required, and general crane operations.
  • Quality Control: Inspecting and interpreting drawings/specifications, determining manufacturing methods, and ensuring that all standards are met.
  • Safety and Teamwork: A commitment to safety practices, teamwork, and collaboration is expected from our team members.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: A relevant Australian Trade qualification as a Fitter/Machinist is required.
  • Experience: Proven experience in metal machining and fabrication is necessary. Experience in rail, electric motor, or mining industries is advantageous but not essential.
  • Skills: High attention to detail, a solid understanding of measuring instruments, strong communication skills, and the ability to troubleshoot and repair tools are essential.
