Python Engineer Leadership Role

The Data Platforms team is a key component of our strategic data and analytics strategy. We support various data sources, apply complex business transformation rules, and create data assets for use cases.

This leadership role will play a crucial part in developing and maintaining an ecosystem of Platform and Developer toolchains used by thousands of Engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in a highly expert team with strong knowledge in Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, and DevOps.
  • Develop and maintain Python solutions on GitHub Enterprise as we move our DevOps capabilities to the cloud.
  • Provide thought leadership on Software Engineering patterns and practices.
  • Establish and maintain Software Engineering best practices, standards, and patterns relied upon by engineering squads.
Required Skills and Expertise
  • Deep technical knowledge in Python and experience with Python migrations.
  • Excellent Git skills within a large team environment.
  • Experience building complex Python applications in Production environments.
  • Knowledge of Python Packaging Authority, scripting languages like Scala, Java, Groovy, Bash, and PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with test automation tools like pytest, mock, sphinx, black, flake, and Build Automation Tools like Python Build and Setuptools.
  • Secrets Management expertise in Azure Key Vault and HashiCorp Vault.
