The Discipline of occupational therapy is a global leader in allied health, at the forefront of enhancing occupational therapy practice, policy, and education in Australia.
We are ranked 4th in the world for sports-related subjects encompassing sport, physical therapy, and rehabilitation, which includes occupational therapy. A Lecturer (Level B) in Occupational Therapy will advance health education for the next generation of occupational therapists to improve health outcomes for all communities.
The incumbent will make a significant contribution to teaching and learning, engaging in educational leadership within their School/Faculty. This is a continuing position, offering an opportunity to develop and contribute to research and teaching in occupational therapy as part of a multi-disciplinary team at the Faculty of Medicine and Health.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead educational innovation, curriculum design and review, contributing to outstanding educational delivery and outcomes
- Engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences meeting the University's expectations and standards for education
- Design and deliver quality educational units of study and experiences supporting student needs and meeting curriculum requirements
- Develop multi-disciplinary work-integrated learning units and content
- Supervise higher-degree research students
- Apply scholarship and knowledge of contemporary pedagogical practice to innovate education
- Carry out administrative tasks connected with the discipline area
- Contribute to a positive workplace culture valuing diversity, collaboration, excellence, and achieving outcomes
- Establish partnerships, collaborations, and engage in translational research for impactful outcomes in research, development, commercialisation, and policy improvement
- Establish collaborations and partnerships to enhance the research profile and reputation of the university
We seek a person who:
- Possesses a degree in occupational therapy
- Has a PHD or nearing completion, or equivalent in occupational therapy or a relevant field
- Displays a strong or developing research profile evidenced by original, high-quality research
- Has clinical experience as an occupational therapist in neurology, community practice, occupational/work rehabilitation, or clinical education
- Is eligible for registration with AHPRA Australia or has existing registration
- Has proven experience in supervising and mentoring students
- Has experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in team teaching and teaching in various settings
- Has demonstrated success in designing, implementing, and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives
- Has experience in supervising or mentoring others and/or coordinating team activities
- Has a developing knowledge and understanding of key strategic issues in the discipline and higher education sector
