Mental Health, Justice Health, and Alcohol & Drug Services provide a range of health services directly and through partnerships with community organisations. Our services include prevention and treatment, recovery, maintenance, and harm minimisation. We encourage consumer and carer participation in all aspects of service planning and delivery.

We deliver services at various locations, including hospital inpatient and outpatient settings, community health centres, detention centres, and other community settings. These services include Rehabilitation and Speciality Services, Adult Community Mental Health Services (ACMHS), Adult Acute Mental Health Services (AAMHS), Alcohol & Drug Services (ADS), Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), and Justice Health Services (JHS).

CAMHS provides assessment and treatment for young people up to the age of 18 years experiencing moderate to severe mental health issues. This role will be based within CAMHS Acute Services, primarily Day Program which offers short term intensive support to adolescents and their families/carers aged between 12-18 years with mental health vulnerabilities who have had a recent mental health admission/presentation to Canberra Hospital.

The Day Program will offer a mixture of group and individual interventions to support the young person and their families/carers during a period of high mental health acuity. This includes therapeutic group sessions, individual key worker sessions, and parent group sessions.

What You Will Do

  1. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing assessment and treatment for young people with mental health issues.
  2. You will develop and implement individualised care plans to meet the needs of young people and their families/carers.
  3. You will provide education and training to families/carers on mental health issues and how to support their loved ones.
  4. You will work collaboratively with other services to ensure comprehensive care for young people and their families/carers.
