Veteran Engagement Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated specialist to provide opportunities and activities for local Defence community members to connect and engage through sport and recreation, ensuring the implementation and delivery of our community engagement strategy.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of the veteran community and ex-service organisations, as well as experience in sport participation and engagement.

  • Develop strategies to engage local veterans and their families, as well as networks and organisations that support them, in local sporting communities.
  • Organise and host regular events for veterans and their families to connect with local sporting communities.
  • Build strong connections and collaborate with defence and veteran communities, government agencies, key stakeholders, and corporate partners.
  • Identify the needs of veterans and their families in the local community and connect them with local sport and recreation communities.
  • Promote our programs and initiatives to increase awareness and participation.
  • Maintain accurate records and report on the progress and impact of engagement activities.

This role requires:

  • Experience in community engagement, stakeholder management, or veteran support services.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and connect with diverse groups of people.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • A deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by veterans and their families.
  • Passion for supporting the veteran community and promoting their wellbeing.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to the overall success.
