Deputy Program Director - Overseas Programming

A strategic leader is required to spearhead the Australian Volunteers Program's operations across 26 countries in the Pacific, Asia, and Africa.

  • The Deputy Program Director – Overseas Programming will provide high-level leadership and management of overseas operations to ensure the program achieves desired outcomes, delivers consistent performance across all program countries and meets program compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of professionals to deliver quality program outcomes and responsive support services.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for regional and country level planning and program delivery.
  • Foster collaboration with diverse stakeholders to achieve program objectives.
  • Ensure that the Australian Government's priorities for the Australian Volunteers Program are considered and incorporated across all overseas program activities.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience in senior management roles, including leading diverse teams.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills to identify complex issues and risks.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead change and drive business growth.
  • Solid understanding of contemporary international development issues and challenges.
  • Demonstrated experience in international volunteer management.
  • Program management skills, including strategic and operational planning.
  • Cross-cultural awareness and experience working with people from different cultural backgrounds.
  • Understanding of Equal Employment Opportunity, Occupational Health & Safety, Child Protection and Privacy principles.
