About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced HV Electrical Primary Design Engineer to join our team at Aurecon. As a key member of our Power Transmission and Distribution team, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality design solutions for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct, lead, review, and verify detail designs and technical reports for substation primary systems.
  • Lead and deliver the concept to detailed design of HV substation primary systems.
  • Primary systems design - produce SLDs, HV substation layouts, equipment/materials lists, clearance checks, and short circuit force calculations.
  • Understand the critical technical aspects of projects, implementation, and integration for complex systems.
  • Undertake site inspections and associated reporting.
  • Ability to manage mid-sized projects or parts of larger projects independently.
  • Liaise with clients and contractors in relation to project objectives and targets on technical issues and problem resolution.
  • Mentor, lead, and manage a team of engineers and designers.
  • Being a strong all-rounder, apply your range of electrical engineering experience to a range of different projects.
Requirements
  • University degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 5-10 years relevant experience in transmission and substation designs.
  • Knowledge of the transmission and distribution industry, standards, and codes in Australia and/or design experience with Australian electrical utilities.
  • Strong electrical design skills; in particular, primary systems and substations.
  • Experience with Bentley - Open Utilities 3D design tools, Autodesk Navisworks, AutoCAD, and/or MicroStation a plus.
  • Skilled at or able to learn software packages independently, such as CDEGS, DigSILENT, ETAP, CYMCAP, etc., would be an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in offering solutions to technical challenges.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including effective influencing, motivation, and delegation skills.
  • Ability to work well with others to deliver as a team.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Inquisitive nature and desire to grow your career.
  • RPEQ (or ability to obtain RPEQ) is essential.
