Residential Care Specialist

This position is situated within the Two Bed Response Homes (TBER) in various regions of Victoria, which is responsible for the provision of residential care.
When there are no existing funded care placements available, the T-BER model provides safe short-term emergency accommodation for children and young people.
These placements provide an important safety net for children who are needing to be accommodated in other forms of care, which are identified as a matter of urgency for the young person.
The department places a high level of importance on keeping sibling groups together in care and, where possible, accommodates the sibling group to keep siblings together.
We have multiple positions available for permanent Full-Time & Part-time opportunities within our Policy & Performance program. The position reports to the TBER Team Leader.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide residential care to children and young people in a safe and supportive environment.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each child or young person.
- Work collaboratively with other professionals, including social workers, psychologists, and medical professionals, to ensure comprehensive care and support.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to children and young people, promoting their physical, emotional, and psychological well-being.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of care and service delivery.
- A Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential and out-of-home care), or other similar or relevant tertiary qualifications.
- A current valid Victorian driver's licence and ability to drive MacKillop vehicles in the conduct of the position requirements.
- A genuine interest in young people and their wellbeing.
- Demonstrated empathy for the young people in our care in an open-minded and non-judgmental manner.
- Highly-developed capacity for emotional self-regulation, including the capacity to set and maintain consistent boundaries to provide safety, stability, and consistency.
