We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Capital Projects team on an initial 12 month contract working across a portfolio of brownfield projects, including a new reclaimer, residue filtration plant and residue area.

This role involves collaboration with construction, commissioning, and asset owner teams to drive fit-for-purpose solutions and ensure the delivery of high-quality engineering outcomes for the project.

The successful candidate will have a background in brownfield mining projects, a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering, and experience in design execution and management, contract management, construction quality control, and commissioning support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • ">
  • Define and challenge project and engineering scopes to ensure they are fit for purpose.">
  • Prepare scope documents for the execution of engineering services.">
  • Lead or support the management of engineering deliverables through third-party providers.">
  • Maximize value from Engineering Service Providers (ESPs) by proactive monitoring of performance and reducing variations.">
  • Assist in the preparation of operational readiness deliverables.">
  • Evaluate and adhere to standards for engineering design quality.">
  • Minimise excess scope items and ensure compliance with specifications.">
  • Respond to contractor technical queries within contractual time targets.">
  • Maximise re-usability of engineering design.">
  • Support and validate in the construction, commissioning, and handover phases of the project.">

  • Contribute to safe, timely, cost-effective, and technically sound designs.">
  • Enhance design re-usability to reduce future costs.">
  • Align project design with specifications and contracts.">

Design Management:

  • Coordinate design plans with project phases and optimise deliverables before design begins.">
  • Manage the design change process and ensure design deliverables are returned.">
  • Review spares, maintainability, and operational costs for operational readiness.">

Safety and Environment:

  • Consider safe construction methodologies during the design phase.">
  • Participate in hazard identification and risk assessment processes.">
  • Promote a total safety culture within the Capital Group.">

Technology & Standards:

  • ">
  • Apply current best technology and standards to design and maintainability.">
  • Maintain compliance with Engineering Standards and Statutory Regulations.">

Procurement & Contracting:

  • ">
  • Ensure alignment of engineering deliverables with overall procurement plan and contracts.">
  • Review, assess, and prepare engineering specifications.">
  • Manage engineering consistent with specifications and contracts.">

Construction, Commissioning, and Handover:

  • Develop and implement construction plans that ensure constructability of the design.">
  • Monitor the cost impact related to construction-initiated design changes.">
  • Define and ensure required as-builts are completed and returned.">
