About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Specialist to join our award-winning team in Mackay or Rockhampton, reporting directly to our Maintenance and Engineering Manager- Dragline & Electric Rope Shovels. This is a permanent, Monday to Friday position.

Job Description

The successful candidate will provide technical support and direction to internal and site-based teams through mechanical services for Draglines and Electric Rope Shovels. Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with stakeholders at all levels to provide status reports
  • Providing on-site technical expertise to diagnose and repair advanced mechanical systems, ensuring work meets equipment specifications
  • Ensuring mechanical audit inspections align with OEM specifications and making accurate risk-based decisions
  • Supervising major outages and shutdowns for customers
  • Assisting with scope development, review, and coordination of customer major asset mechanical component repairs and overhauls
  • Supporting maintenance, reliability, and improvement projects for customers
  • Reviewing costs of proposed mechanical repairs and upgrades, and providing OEM support information

Salary

The estimated annual salary for this role is AU$85,000 - AU$110,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience in mining maintenance activities on Draglines and Electric Rope Shovels
  • Trade qualification as a Mechanic/Fitter and/or tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proven ability to develop strategies, budgets, and workscopes for repairs and upgrades
  • Experience in supervision and quality control of repairs, including third-party management
  • A positive attitude towards developing the business through a team approach
  • Well-developed customer and communication skills
