
Medical Records Summary Specialist

Join us in a rewarding role where you will be working closely with our team to maintain high-quality patient data. Your primary responsibility will be to accurately summarise medical histories into the clinical system, using appropriate Read Codes or SNOMED codes.
">Key Responsibilities
Review all incoming correspondence and file the document, entering pertinent information into the patient's electronic medical record according to our Coding Protocol.
Highlight clinician action and workflow to the relevant clinician or team as per our Workflow Protocol.
Organize the medical record of patients whom you are coding, linking problem titles as necessary.
Check incoming medical records and summarise them onto the clinical system.
Recognise your own knowledge limits and seek advice from clinical or administrative colleagues when appropriate.
Carry out other administrative tasks delegated by the Clinical Lead and Practice Manager.
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with GDPR and NHS Information Governance requirements.
Undertake relevant training to maintain your knowledge and skills.
Follow all practice and PCN policies and procedures.
Ensure that all scanned documents are legible and filed in the correct section of the patient's record.
Apply accurate coding and filing to ensure easy retrieval and compliance with data quality standards.
Requirements
Good standard of education (GCSE or equivalent).
Previous administrative or records management experience in a healthcare setting.
Strong IT and typing skills, with attention to detail and understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
Organised, reliable, able to work to deadlines, good communication skills, and a team player.
Training in medical terminology or health administration.
NHS primary care experience, with previous summarising and scanning work.
Knowledge of EMIS or SystmOne, with coding skills using SNOMED or Read Codes.
