Bar Attendant Role

We are seeking a Bar Attendant to join our team at a vibrant brewery and restaurant in Cairns Wharf.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about hospitality and eager to showcase their skills in a fast-paced environment.

  • Duties:
  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting and serving customers in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Offer expert advice on beverage selections, specials, and promotions.
  • Handle customer queries and complaints in line with venue policies.
  • Mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to standard recipes.
  • Monitor customer consumption and apply RSA principles, including refusing service when required.
  • Ensure compliance with liquor licensing legislation, RSA laws, and venue-specific policies.
  • Monitor patrons' behaviour and intervene where necessary to maintain a safe environment.
  • Check identification to confirm legal age requirements.
  • Operate point-of-sale systems and process transactions accurately.
  • Reconcile cash and sales at the end of shifts.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the bar, glassware, and equipment in accordance with workplace health and safety standards.
Requirements
  • Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification or willingness to obtain same.
  • Relevant qualifications in Hospitality or a related field highly regarded but not essential.
  • Minimum one year of experience as a bartender/bar attendant.
  • Strong knowledge of drink recipes, mixing techniques, and presentation standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm under pressure.
  • Friendly, energetic, positive, and outgoing personality.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Understanding of workplace health and safety regulations for food and beverage service.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift, and carry moderately heavy trays with glassware and beverages.
