Financial Research Expert

This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute significantly to the development of thought leadership and intelligence within the financial services industry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting a wide range of research projects representing client deliverables, as well as developing new research initiatives in response to evolving market conditions.

This position requires strong collaboration skills to achieve successful execution of research initiatives and leadership on specific projects after experience is gained in the role.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the timely delivery of existing ongoing research publications.
  2. Contribute to the process of creating new research content.
  3. Collaborate with the sales team to identify and scope new opportunities.
  4. Engage with the team to refine and establish new research processes, methodologies, and research formats to optimize the research workflow, the quality of research insights, and their relevance to clients.
  5. Provide consulting and analytical support for recurring and new research projects.
  6. Demonstrate care, precision, diligence, and thoughtfulness in the execution of research analytics, report production, and verification processes.
  7. Proactively share knowledge and understanding of industry developments with team members, on a formal and informal basis.

Requirements:

Candidates should have:

  1. A tertiary qualification in mathematics, economics, statistics, or finance.
  2. Preferably a minimum of 5 years' experience in financial services, with a focus on the wealth management industries, or experience with a market research firm or a consulting business active in the financial services industry. A longer track record is a plus.
  3. An understanding of life insurance products (retail, direct, group), retirement products (superannuation, income stream/annuities), and managed investments.
  4. Familiarity with Australian financial regulators and financial markets.
  5. Strong mathematical aptitude, analysis, forecasting/modelling skills.
  6. Strong communications skills, both written and verbal.
  7. Excellent attention to detail.
  8. Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and conflicting demands.
  9. Knowledge of PC applications, including spreadsheet and database analysis, and proficiency in standard office software and equipment.
