Indigenous Economic Development Program

We are committed to making our graduate positions accessible to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders through this Indigenous Employment Affirmative Measure process.

As a Treasury graduate, you'll gain exposure to various areas of the department and work on policies that shape the future and benefit all Australians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of economic policies for Australia, particularly those related to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across different areas of the department.

Our program is designed to provide a rewarding career opportunity for graduates who are eager to make a direct impact in economic development.

The program is open to university students who have graduated in the last 5 years. Graduates should be willing to work for the government and be curious and driven to work on impactful topics.

Eligibility Criteria
  1. Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage.
  2. Provide heritage confirmation prior to an offer.
  3. Be an Australian citizen or become one by December 2026.
  4. Hold an Australian-recognized undergraduate degree completed or to be completed within the last 5 years.
  5. Be willing to relocate or travel to Canberra for the program.
  6. Obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance.
  7. Pass necessary checks.

Applicants must meet these eligibility criteria to be considered for the program.
