Strategic Finance Lead
We are seeking a values-driven finance leader to step into a key role within a high-performing and forward-thinking government agency.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of finance strategy and operations across a dynamic division that plays a critical role in shaping outcomes for the broader community.
About the Role
You will be the strategic financial lead, guiding a team while overseeing end-to-end financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and governance.
You will work closely with external service providers and cross-agency partners, providing leadership and technical expertise needed to drive high standards in public sector finance.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Leading a finance team, building capability, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Delivering accurate, timely budgeting, reporting, and financial analysis in line with public sector frameworks.
- Developing best-practice processes, policies, and reporting tools to support clear and strategic decision-making.
- Collaborating with executive leaders on key submissions, including business cases, budget bids, and Cabinet papers.
- Managing critical financial relationships and statutory requirements, including liaison with auditors.
- Supporting performance and accountability through robust reporting to Risk & Audit Committees and parliamentary forums.
