Urban Design Expert Role Summary:

As a key member of the team, you will provide expert advice on urban design strategies for large-scale projects. Your work will involve analyzing complex data, collaborating with clients and stakeholders, and ensuring that outputs meet statutory and strategic planning requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning Advice: Provide advice on urban design related projects, including master planning, development guidelines, form-based codes, and regeneration strategies.
  • Project Coordination: Coordinate the preparation of documentation and strategies for proposals in the urban development sector, ensuring outputs meet statutory and strategic planning requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with clients, government representatives, and industry experts to resolve urban development challenges and project issues.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research, gather insights, and make recommendations from complex data, incorporating findings into strategies and projects across urban planning, place, urban design, economics, and social value disciplines.
  • Community Engagement: Assist with community engagement preparation and participation.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A degree and strong academic record in urban planning from a recognized institution.
  • 1-3 years' experience in urban planning, preferably in WA.
  • Understanding of the WA planning system and urban planning/design issues and statutory requirements for planning at different scales and contexts.
  • Team-focused work ethic, excellent written and verbal communication skills, sound analytical skills, and client service ethos.
  • Demonstrated passion for the built environment and delivery of sustainable communities.
  • Current right to live and work in Australia (i.e., permanent residency or citizenship).
