Peter Mac is seeking an experienced Medical Scientist to join our Solid Molecular Oncology Team in the Molecular Pathology Laboratory. As a Grade 3 Medical Scientist, you will play a crucial role in supporting the molecular diagnostic services and contributing to the strategic direction of the implementation and translation of next-generation sequencing and other novel molecular and bioinformatics techniques in molecular haematology.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and oversee the scientific reporting and ongoing validation/performance of next-generation sequencing assays in molecular haematology.
- Analyse, curate, and prepare reports for NGS-based assays in molecular haematology in conjunction with senior scientific and medical staff.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the implementation and translation of NGS-based and other novel molecular and bioinformatics techniques in molecular haematology.
- Support senior molecular haematology scientific and medical staff.
- BSc or equivalent in a relevant area of Genetics or Molecular Biology.
- Experience as a Medical Scientist in an accredited Diagnostic Molecular Pathology/Genetics laboratory.
- Experience with PCR, fragment analysis, and automated DNA sequencing, particularly next-generation sequencing.
- Variant curation.
- PhD.
- Manuscript publication.
- Statistical analysis experience and data interpretation.
