About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Peer Advocate to join our team at Mission Australia. As a Peer Advocate, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals living with severe and persistent mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients, providing a safe and non-judgmental space for them to share their experiences.
  • Develop and implement tailored support plans to help clients achieve their recovery goals.
  • Facilitate small group capacity building activities, promoting social connections and community engagement.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure seamless support for clients, including referrals to external services.
  • Contribute to the development of individual recovery and safety plans, working collaboratively with clients and recovery coordinators.
Requirements
  • Personal lived experience of mental illness or psychological distress, with professional experience working from this expertise.
  • Minimum Certificate IV in mental health Peer Work or willingness to obtain.
  • Knowledge of community activities, programs, and networks in the local area.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective partnerships and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Full driver's license with no restrictions.
