Job Overview

A Pharmacy Fill Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of prescription preparation.

  • Pull/pick medications from shelving and other medication storage areas, verifying their authenticity before presenting them to the pharmacist for verification.
  • Perform an accuracy check on final preparations prior to pharmacist verification.
  • Fulfill daily drug orders with precision and speed, adhering to established protocols under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Assist in processing returned drugs and disposing of expired or damaged medications according to established procedures.
  • Participate in pre-packing frequently ordered medications, labeling and restocking as needed during low-volume periods.
  • Manually package materials and products while maintaining high standards of quality control.
  • Comply with relevant government regulations, including HIPAA, to ensure confidentiality and data security.
  • Maintain clean and organized workstation areas, replenishing supplies as necessary to optimize productivity.
  • Alert the pharmacist on duty regarding any medication or product that fails to scan correctly.
  • Adhere to departmental policies governing safety, attendance, and dress code.
Key Requirements:
  • Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Pharmacy technician licenses/certifications are mandatory and dictated by state regulations.
  • Previous pharmacy experience is required; one or more years of long-term care experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of brand name/generic medications.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Able to perform tasks at a moderate speed.
  • Will work in various weather conditions.
  • Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Capable of performing light lifting duties.
