Job Title: Information Governance Manager

The information governance manager will oversee day-to-day activities, including subject access requests and data security. They must be responsible for managing various initiatives that involve the implementation of information governance policies.


About You
  • You have a degree qualification or equivalent experience in an information governance and data protection field.
  • A Data Protection qualification is preferred but not required. If you don't already possess it, you're willing to work towards obtaining one.
  • You have significant experience with implementing data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) and data sharing agreements within a health or social care organisation.
  • You are skilled at leading information governance frameworks, handling Freedom of Information Act requirements, data security management, records management, Caldicott Guardian issues, Data Security and Protection Toolkit requirements and Information Security Management Systems (ISMS).
  • You have experience with decision-making and prioritisation in a healthcare setting.
  • You've had experience managing a team.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage and monitor the Ulysses system, track Subject Access Requests and IG incidents, and carry out investigations as needed.
  2. Identify and escalate any data breach incidents, manage external reporting if necessary.
  3. Lead the development, delivery, and monitoring of information governance training, including cyber security and data protection.
  4. Capture and report relevant data that supports information governance, aiming to enhance service quality and safety while achieving key performance indicators.
  5. Provide expertise on all aspects of information governance to colleagues across different levels of the organisation.
  6. Manage risk identification, assessment, reporting, and management regarding all aspects of IG, providing regular reports to the SIRO/Head of Quality & Safety.
