About the Role

The Head of Department for Social Work Programs at Acknowledge Education is a senior leadership position that requires academic and operational expertise. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to academic staff within the social work department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Academic and Operational Leadership
    • Lead and guide academic staff to deliver high-quality social work programs.
    • Manage day-to-day operations, including timetabling, resource planning, and assessment processes.
    • Conduct performance appraisals and manage recruitment and workload allocation.
  • Course Development and Enhancement
    • Develop and implement new social work courses, including the Masters of Social Work (Qualifying).
    • Engage with Course Advisory and Review Committees to ensure course quality and relevance.
  • Student Success
    • Advocate for a student-centered approach to education.
    • Implement support services and initiatives to enhance student success, well-being, and retention.
  • Scholarly Activities and Professional Development
    • Lead and support scholarly activities and professional development within the department.
    • Engage in research to enhance teaching and learning.
About You
  • A PhD degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work and eligibility for membership with the AASW.
  • Proven experience in academic leadership roles, preferably within an education setting.
  • A strong academic background with a record of research and scholarly activities.
  • A commitment to promoting student success, well-being, and academic support.
